Recruits from Crimea to serve in Russian Strategic Missile Forces

In the course of the spring military conscription in 2018, the recruits of the annexed Crimea will be sent to Russian Strategic Missile Forces for the first time. This was reported by the press service of Russian Defense Ministry.

“The conscription campaign to Russian Strategic Missile Forces will cover all the regions of Russian Federation. For the first time, the citizens of the military age of “Crimean Republic” will go to serve in the units of Strategic Missile Forces,” the message says.

It was also noted that in total 8,000 recruits will be sent to Russian Strategic Missile Forces and around 2,500 of recruits during the current conscription campaign will be sent to the training centers that prepare younger military specialists for the Missile Forces.

As it was reported earlier, for the end of 2017, around 5.000 residents of the occupied Crimea were drafted into the Russian Army, as Irina Sedova, activist of Crimean human rights group reported.

According to her, criminal cases are being opened on the peninsula for evading the conscription.

She also said that employees of Russian conscription offices find the young people who left Crimea for mainland Ukraine and threaten to search for them.
