Pavlohrad city district court of Dnipropetrovsk region sentenced Brazilian citizen Rafael Lusvarghi to 13 years in prison. The man faces imprisonment for his membership in an illegal armed gang of pro-Russian militants and other crimes against Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The press service of Kyiv prosecutor's office reported that on Facebook.

'During the trial investigation, the prosecutor provided irrevocable proof of the foreigner's guilt in the crimes. The convict recognized his guilt in taking part in the illegal armed formations but denied his membership in the terrorist organizations (...)', reads the message.

The court also seized Lusvarghi's belongings and charged him for 555 U.S. dollars, which is the expertise-related expenses.

The prison term will include the time Lusvarghi already spent in detention by now.

The man refused to comment on the court's decision in public. His lawyer said Lusvarghi has not yet decided whether he would file an appeal or not.
