Luhansk-based militants spread fake information about the sabotage group of Ukrainian troops, allegedly detained in the combat area. This is the way for them to divert the attention from the current internal hostilities between those loyal to Ihor Plotnitsky and those serving with his Interior Minister Ihor Kornet.

Vasyl Labay, the spokesman of the Joint Staff of the Counter-Terrorism Operation in Donbas said that lately, Russian and local media have been spreading fake news of such kind – ‘taking into account the mess that is going on in the militant-held areas of Luhansk region’. ‘Currently, I don’t have any information about any of the servicemen involved in the counter-terrorism operation being held in captivity or missing in action,’ he said.

Labay added that such ‘news’ also aim to discredit Ukraine’s Armed Forces in Luhansk region.
