President of the United States Donald Trump is not against joining the Minsk talks. This is reported to RBC-Ukraine on the rights of anonymity by sources from the team of Petro Poroshenko.
"Trump, unlike his predecessor Barack Obama, is not against attaching the US to the Minsk process," the diplomats say.
The same source said that German Chancellor Angela Merkel was opposed to an alternative format for the Minsk talks.
We recall, President Petro Poroshenko expects a personal meeting with Donald Trump. After all, until now the American president discussed our foreign policy problems indirectly. So, on March 18 he spoke, incidentally, about the Ukrainian question with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Merkel said that Trump supported the Minsk process and called it "a good base for resolving a situation that, unfortunately, has not been completed." In his turn, the US president said that he highly appreciates the efforts of Merkel and French President Francois Hollande to settle the conflict in Ukraine.
