Police seized arms cache in Donetsk region: 1,500 rounds, two grenade launchers

All the weapons were sent for examination, the owner will face imprisonment of up to 7 years

Police found about 1,500 cartridges and two grenade launchers in a non-residential building in the Donetsk region. This was reported by the press service of the National Police of Ukraine.

"Sloviansky police department received information that the local resident found the cache of ammunition at the territory of household in Sviatohirsk. The woman said she was looking after the house and last time she was in it on April 4. When she visited this time, she found foreign traces, and arms in the shed," the message says.

All the objects seized by law enforcers will be sent for examination.

The police is looking for the owner of an explosive arsenal.

This incident was registered in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations as illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives. The sanction of the article provides for up to 7 years of imprisonment.

As it was reported earlier, the militants shot at Ukrainian positions 18 times from the beginning of the day on April 9. As a result of the shooting, three Ukrainian soldiers were injured. Militants used 122-mm artillery arm in Donetsk sector near Shyrokyne and Lebedynske, and 120-mm mortars near Vodiane (Donetsk region).
