The police opened criminal proceedings in connection with the shelling of Mariinka, Donetsk region under the article "terrorist act" of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This is reported by the office of the National Police in Donetsk region on its Facebook page.
"An intense mortar shelling began at 11:00 pm and lasted about an hour. A 54-year-old man and his 52-year-old civilian wife were in their own house on Oktyabrska Street. As a result of the shelling, a man and a woman received shrapnel wounds, open leg fractures and a traumatic shock", the police said.
It was also noted that the victims are now in the hospital in Kurakhove. As of 09:00 they are in serious condition.
In addition, Krasnohorivka suffered from shelling.
"A tank shell was found in the house of local residents along Shevchenko Street, which did not explode," the police informed.
Earlier it was reported that militants shelled living blocks of Mariinka, Krasnohorivka in Donbas. Supervisory group of the Ukrainian side Joint Control Center is working at the place of shelling.
