The US Department of Defense considers unfounded the Russian claims to Ukraine, which held transparent missile exercises near Crimean peninsula. This position was expressed by Pentagon spokesman Michelle Baldanza in response to an information request to the Russian news agency "Interfax".

"We have seen reports of missile exercises in Ukraine. In addition, we know about the Russian claims in connection with these transparent teachings." Said the representative of the US defense department.

She also stressed that the "constant false and misleading Russian statements about Ukraine continue to distract the international community from the real problem - the Russian aggression."

Baldanza thus reminded that Crimea is part of Ukraine and noted that the United States condemns Russian annexation and calls for "an immediate end to the Russian occupation of the Crimea."

Let us remind, Russia earlier threatened Ukraine with possible missile strike in the case of Ukraine military exercises near Crimea. This was stated in the letter of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, addressed to the military attaché at the Ukrainian Embassy in the Russian Federation.
