UN peacekeeping mission in Donbas will unblock the implementation of Minsk Agreements, as Kurt Volker, the U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine, stated at the briefing of Helsinki Commission of U.S. Congress and wrote on his Twitter.
A UN-mandated temporary and transitional peacekeeping force could work if Russia wants to exit Ukraine and bring peace to the Ukrainian and Russian people. @HelsinkiComm— Kurt Volker (@SpecRepUkraine) May 8, 2018
Besides, Volker called Russia’s aggression in Ukraine a direct intervention and occupation.
“The peacekeeping forces can help OSCE Mission to conduct its work more effective, and OSCE can help to provide reliable police mission and assistance in local elections…Several countries have already offered to contribute to the mission under the right conditions,” Volker said.
Earlier, Poland, Germany, Sweden, Portugal, Turkey and Finland stated that they were ready to bring the peacekeepers to Donbas.
