The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Freedom of Speech requires the Security Service of Ukraine to verify the activity of the Myrotvorets website database. This is stated in the corresponding appeal of the head of the committee, MP from the party ‘Opposition platform - For life’ Nestor Shufrich addressed to the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Ivan Bakanov.
"It became known that the Myrotvorets information resource contains personal data on political figures, MP of Ukraine of the 9th and previous convocations, journalists, and other persons," - the document says.
It noted that, according to the Law of Ukraine "On the Protection of Personal Data", the processing of data on an individual without his consent is not allowed, except in cases specified by the Law, and only in the interests of national security, economic welfare and human rights, or if the processing of personal data is a necessity to protect his vital interests.
“I ask you to give a legal assessment of the relevant situation, to provide an objective verification of the activities of the Myrotvorets website, and in case of violations, take the necessary measures. I ask you to inform the committee about the results,” - the letter of Shufrich said.
As we reported, The UN monitoring mission on human rights in Ukraine urged the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to initiate closing of the Myrotvorets (Peacekeeper) website.
