Over 60,000 residents of occupied Donbas appealed for Russian citizenship, - Russia's Interior Ministry

More than 25,000 individuals already received their IDs, the authority says

More than 60,000 residents of the occupied Donbas filed the appeals to get the Russian passports. Valentyna Kazakova, the Head of the Chief Department for Migration of Russian Interior Ministry said so as quoted by TASS.

According to the official, more than 25,000 individuals already received their IDs. 

Kazakova added that Russian Interior Ministry intends to increase the number of mgiration subdivisions due to "the inflow of those willing to get the Russian citizenship".

On June 14, it was reported that the citizens of occupied Donbas began to get the passports of the Russian Federation registered in the simplified order in accordance with the April order of the Russian president. Foreign Ministry of Ukraine condemned such measures stating about the intention to continue work on the imposing of proper sanctions against Russia.

In April, Russian leader Vladimir Putin signed the decree that simplified the procedure of granting the Russian citizenship to residents of Donbas.
