Over 400 people are listed missing in combat zone of Donbas

Search and investigation operations are impossible due to the obstacles created by the militants, - Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry

Over 400 people missing in the combat zone of Donbas. Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reports that in their statement dedicated to the International Day of the Disappeared, the Ukrainian News reported.

“According the Joint Center for search and release of illegally detained and missing in the combat zone in Donbas, over 400 people are listed missing,” reads the message.

The search is impossible due to the o entanglement created by the Russian terrorist forces and systematic limitations of the access for the international humanitarian organizations to the territory of separate regions of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

It is also noted that search and identification of the bodies of people died of armed hostilities in Donbas remains one of the most sensitive humanitarian problems and requires urgent problem solving.

“Among numerous human rights violations by Russia in the occupied Crimea, the facts of kidnapping and disappearance of the Crimean Tatars, persecuted for their political and public position, cause special perturbation,” ministry noted in the statement.

Ukrainian side is thankful to the Red Cross International Committee for their active participation in search for the missing and support of their families.

Foreign Ministry hopes for further continuation of this important humanitarian mission of the Red Cross, especially on the territories beyond Ukraine’s control.
