334,000 people participated in battle actions in Donbas, as Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine, said at Veterans Forum, broadcasted by 112 Ukraine.

“The Armed Forces of Ukraine is the guarantor of Ukraine’s independence. 334,000 participants of the battle actions in the east of our state guarantee our freedom, sovereignty, independence,” Poroshenko noted.

He added that over 4,5 years of Donbas war thousands of Ukrainian soldiers died.

“Ukraine paid a very high price in the fight for independence: thousands of deceased Ukrainian soldiers, volunteers, who died from snipers’ bullets, artillery shells and multiple rocket launchers and thousands of civilians, dozens of thousands of injured and those who sustained severe psychological traumas. I ask to commemorate the heroes with a moment of silence,” Poroshenko added.

Earlier, Iryna Gerashchenko, Vice-Speaker of Ukraine’s Parliament, stated that as of March this year 2,383 Ukrainian soldiers died in battle actions. As it was reported, the total number of victims of the combat actions is more than 10,000 people.
