Over 2,300 ceasefire violations in Donbas since July 2020

In 433 cases, Ukrainian troops returned fire to suppress enemy activity, as long as it put their own lives in danger

Since the ceasefire in Donbas took effect in July 2020, the Russian militants breached it more than 2,300 times. Oleksandr Pavlyuk, the Commander of Joint Forces claimed this during the meeting with Mark Etherington, Deputy Chairman of the OSCE SMM in Ukraine said so on Facebook.

"More than 2,386 violations of ceasefire regime have been observed since July 27, 2020. In order to suppress the firing activity of the enemy, which posed a threat to the lives of our military, units of the Joint Forces opened fire 433 times", Pavlyuk said. 

He added that the illegal armed formations continue to shoot at the inhabited localities and infrastructure objects in Donbas that are adjacent to the division line. On August 11, the enemy opened fire on Novoselivka 2. A civilian deceased in the attack, and local infrastructure took damage, too.

On August 17, Russian mercenaries attacked Ukrainian positions in Donbas five times. One Ukrainian fighter was wounded in action; press office of the Joint Forces Operation HQ reported that on August 17.

In the vicinities of Prychepylivka, the enemy opened fire from small arms; in Vodyane, militants fired 120 mm mortars.

In Pisky, the pro-Kremlin proxies fired automatic, stationary and underbarrel grenade launchers, as well as heavy machine guns and small arms.

A hostile UAV Orlan-10 flied over the combat area in Luhansk region; it crossed the division line.

The wounded Ukrainian serviceman is now at the hospital. His condition is satisfactory.
