OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) contributes to calm and stable situation in the most of Ukrainian territory. This was reported by Alexander Hug, the Principal Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine, during the briefing in "Ukrainian crisis media center".
"The absence of violence in the most parts of country’s regions is an important achievement in three years. Stability and normalization of situation is observed on the whole Ukrainian territory except for Donbas. This is the situation which is not highlighted in papers and news. Our teams are ceaselessly and progressively working on development and maintenance of peace since OSCE mission has been deployed in Ukraine. They work in the cities, communities, among people every day. They are listening to human experiences and try to consider signs of tension and intervene if necessary," he said.
Hug also noted that slight decrease of ceasefire regime violations was recorded in ATO zone over the last week. He stressed that OSCE SMM sees the same situation five weeks straight, however this may be connected with the fact that patrolling was limited after OSCE monitor died in vehicle explosion on April 23.
