Ukrainian forces should be returning fire when shot at. And one should not be choosing situations when to fire and when not to fire. Leonid Kravchuk, the head of Ukrainian delegation in Minsk contact group and the first president of Ukraine said so on air of Ukraine 24 TV channel.
"If we take a look at the recent events, these things get obvious. Yesterday and today, they keep killing our soldiers. They shoot even from 120 mm mortars, which is not in line with all kinds of agreements. I'll express my thought, I would act on tit-for-tat basis. A shot must be answered with a shot. No need to fictionalize it, calling it provocation or not. A shot is a shot. If they shoot, we should reply the same way", Kravchuk said.
On February 6, three Ukrainian servicemen stepped on a landmine near Mariinka, Donetsk region. Two of them deceased instantly, and medics now struggle for the life of another injured soldier. On Feburary 7, a sniper of Russian mercenaries wounded another Ukrainian serviceman.
