Russia-backed militants fired on Mayorsk checkpoint in Donetsk region, killing a civilian and wounding another one. Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service reported this on the morning of Wednesday, December 14.
The attack occurred at about 9 a.m., when civilians were present at the checkpoint on the division line between Ukraine-controlled territories and the militant-held area of Donetsk region. ‘Small arms were used during the attack that took place 50 meters from the checkpoint. One of the bullets wounded a man to his shoulder, while another man received a fatal injury to the head,’ the report says.
6,160 people and 1,105 cars were present near the checkpoint at the moment of the attack. Thanks to well-coordinated actions of the state border guards, the civilians were immediately brought out of the firing line.
