The number of the attacks increased at the zone of the armed Donbas Conflict by 60% during the last week. Alexander Hug, the Principal Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE SMM to Ukraine claimed this at the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center.

'The SMM spotted the increase of the number of the violations of the cease-fire regime by 60% the last week if we compare with the week before. We spotted more than 9 000 violations the las week and it is the highest index since the mid of the June', Hug said.

He added that the biggest amounts of the attacks (30%) took place at the triangle Avdiivka-Yasynuvata-Donetsk Airport.

Earlier Hug noted that it is quite possible that the combat activity in Donbas could rapidly toughen due to winter temperatures. When the ground freezes, it will be easier to move the heavy weaponry as he said.

Hug mentioned that over the last several weeks, the number of ceasefire violations grew considerably.  ‘In certain points of the division line, which makes almost 500 kilometers, the warring sides can literally see each other. Tanks and artillery are used again and again,’ he said.
