During talks in Moscow, US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland allegedly advocated a special status of Donbas to resolve the conflict in eastern Ukraine. This was reported by Kommersant.

"During the talks, the US position voiced in Geneva was confirmed that without agreeing on the future parameters of autonomy or, in other words, the special status of Donbas within Ukraine, significant progress in resolving the conflict is hardly possible," the message says.

It is also reported that the parties agreed to continue consultations on Donbas "taking into account the coincidence of approaches on this principled position."

Meanwhile, Spokesperson of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov does not yet see prospects for a personal meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

"Modalities do not change, the status of implementation of previous agreements does not change, and in this context, of course, no prospects are seen yet," Putin's spokesman said in response to a question about the prospects for contacts between Moscow and Kyiv at the highest level.
