German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said that the ministers of the Normandy Four during the talks in Berlin paid special attention to the issue of deploying the UN mission in the east of Ukraine, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
"Regarding the conditions of the UN mission presence in eastern Ukraine, we instructed our policy directors to hold further consultations on these issues during the next week," German Foreign Minister said.
The official noted that the beginning of the mission's deployment will be discussed at Normandy Four talks. According to him, the necessary conditions are the withdrawal of heavy weaponry and better humanitarian conditions. However, the very fact of this resume after 16 months-long break, according to him, is a success.
The meeting of the Foreign Minister of the Normandy Four countries took place in Berlin on June 11.
According to Volodymyr Yelchenko, the permanent envoy of Ukraine in the UN, it is unlikely that UN member countries will be able to start working on the mandate of UN peacekeeping mission in Donbas until the middle of summer of 2018.
