Ukrainian servicemen who fight in Joint Forces Operation zone will have an opportunity to vote in presidential elections in Ukraine on March 31, as Sergiy Nayev, Joint Forces Commander, said in the interview for Tyzhden.
According to him, Armed Forces will have an opportunity to use their constitutional right for voting in the presidential elections.
“Special polling stations are being set on the territory of the military units for the servicemen. They will vote in compliance with their electoral right as the citizens of Ukraine. The commanders of all the levels and their deputies will provide them an opportunity to do their civic duty without restriction. Therefore, all the servicemen who are, for instance, not involved in the staff of the duty forces or high alert in the morning, will vote in the morning, the rest – after noon,” Nayev explained.
He specified that the preparation to the elections in the Joint Forces Operation units has been conducted for over a month.
“Cooperation with local and state authorities has been established. The places where the soldiers will vote, are determined,” he added.
At the same time, the Joint Forces Commander stated that no special agitation for the servicemen is provided.
“Our soldiers are well-educated, they are not children, they are able to make their choice,” Nayev said.
Earlier, The Joint Forces Commander said that the situation in the Joint Forces Operation zone in Donbas got worse under the initiative by the militants in 2010. Yet, the Armed Forces of Ukraine has brand new weapons to react to provocations.
