No escalation, which would make people panic reported in Donbas. There is conventional warfare between two fighting forces, as the new Head of General Staff Ruslan Khomchak said in an interview for BBC News Ukraine.

“I would not say there is some escalation which might lead to panic among the people. Conventional warfare is being conducted on the territory where there are confrontations of two fighting forces,” the message reads.

Khomchak noted that there are constant provocations and attempts to discredit the Ukrainian army in Joint Forces Operation zone to show that Ukraine’s army can not control the situation. All this is being broadcasted in Russia, on the occupied territories and adjacent to them.

“Things which were going on over the past couple of years happen there now. There are constant provocations, the intensity of the attacks increases from time to time. There are casualties, there are days when there are no casualties, days when there are injured and when our servicemen die,” General Staff Head said.
