Over the past 24 hours, Russian mercenaries attacked Ukrainian military positions in Donbas nine times. Two Ukrainian fighters sustained combat wounds in action, the HQ of the Joint Forces Operation reported.
The outposts in Luhanske, Avdiivka, Pisky, and Lomakyno came under fire from 82 mm mortars. In two cases, hostile IFVs opened fire near Avdiivka and Opytne. Small arms fire was observed in Mariinka, Pavlopil, and Lebedynske.
Meanwhile, in Europe, as Trident Juncture military exercise is in full swing, NATO armed formations trained in specific conditions of the Norwegian coastline. The troops apparently practiced in performing defensive maneuvers in the area of Trondheim.
'The military demonstration at a wind-blown waterfront site near Trondheim was part of the massive, two-week Trident Juncture exercise and displayed the allies’ combined firepower to NATO dignitaries, foreign observers and the international media. Military officials have stated that the exercise is not targeting any one country. But the fictitious scenario involves repelling a 'near-peer' threat in Europe. NATO has been reassuring its allies in Eastern Europe against potential threats posed by Russia, whose military has grown more assertive since it annexed Ukraine’s Crimean Peninsula in 2014,' reads the story by Stars and Stripes.
