Zaporizhia region Deputy Head of the National Police Andriy Dolynny and several other officers were fired for participating in tournament to commemorate Berkut officers who died during Maidan. They were not only fired from their posts, but from internal affairs bodies in general.
This was reported by Cenzor.net, referring to the state secretary of the Internal Ministry Oleksiy Tahtai.
The decision to fire National Police officers and the Deputy Head was taken by the authorities after watching video materials and reports confirming their participation in tournament.
The reason of expulsion was announced to all the personnel of the National Police in all regions of Ukraine, the message says.
The boxing tournament in the name of the Berkut officer Serhiy Tsvigun who died during the clash on Maidan in Kyiv in 2014 took place in Zaporizhia.
“The tournament was not to commemorate the deceased friend, but to glorify the unit disbanded for atrocities on Maidan,” the daily reports.
Earlier it was reported that the trial on Ex-Berkut officers was postponed to January 24. Hearing concerned the circumstances surrounding the death of one of the Euromaidan activists.
