Mine clearance begins in area around Stanytsia Luhanska bridge

The works began on Thursday morning; this is due to the agreement of the Minks talks group parties

The works to clear mines in the area around the bridge near Stanytsia Luhanska checkpoint began on August 1. The district state administration reported this as quoted by its press office.

Combat engineers of the State Emergency Service started working on Thursday morning.

Previously, sides of the Minsk talks group agreed that the vicinities of the checkpoint would be cleared of mines. Martin Sajdik, the OSCE Special Representative in the group claimed that the maintenance of the destroyed bridge would take several months.

Previously, Russian occupants spread disinformation about the closing of the crossing point and the bridge in Stanytsia Luhanska. 

According to the district state administration, the line from both sides was formed in the cross point due to gossips. At the same time, the blocking of the checkpoint Stanytsia Luhanska and bridge did not take place. “We officially state that inspection of the bridge by the experts is only held for now. The designing and engineer works will follow next. And only after that the decision about the start and dates of the construction will be made as well as the closing of the checkpoint during the work,” the message said.
