Militants shell Ukrainian positions in ATO area 7 times since the daybreak. This was reported by the head of ATO press center Leonid Matyuhin on air of 112 Ukraine TV channel.
“Seven attacks occurred since midnight till now in ATO area. In Mariupol direction Pavlopil was fired on from mortars, Hnutove, Shyrokyne and Pavlopil was shelled from grenade launchers and small arms. In Luhansk direction Stanytsia Luhanska was fired on from grenade launchers. In Donetsk region militants shelled our positions in Luhanske area from grenade launchers. During the night there was no shelling,” he said.
According to the press officer of “Luhansk” sector Anatoliy Proshyn, the situation in the sector slightly improved.
“The situation in the area which is under responsibility of sectoral office “Luhansk” has slightly improved compared to the previous 24 hours. But Russia-backed terrorists continue shooting our positions. Four cases of shelling were noted for the day and night. The strong points in Novotoshkivske, Novozvanivka were fired on from grenade launchers of different systems, small arms. Stanytsia Luhanska was shelled twice. The situation is under complete control of our units,” he announced.
As of 9:00 were recorded in “Mariupol” sector, according to the press officer of “Mariupol” sector Ivan Chmil.
“Five attacks from the temporarily occupied territories on ATO forces positions were noted as of 9:00. Our positions were shelled in Pavolopil. Hnutove was under fire of heavy machine guns twice. And as always our positions in Shyrokyne were fired on from machine guns and small arms at night,” he said.
Ukrainian officers, like last night, did not fire in response to these provocative attacks,” he said.
“Russian occupants violated “silent regime” once in Donetsk direction on January 6. They fired positions of ATO forces in Svitlodarsk bulge in Luhanske area from mortars of 82mm caliber. Ukrainian military did not fire in response.
In the morning the enemy again started to fire from mortars and small arms. As of this moment, we do not have losses among our soldiers, " the press officer of “Donetsk” sector Volodymyr Lazarev said.
Earlier it was reported that one Ukrainian soldier wounded over last 24 hours. Luhansk and Mariupol sectors took most of the fire during the period.
