Militants of the illegal armed groups in Donbas shelled a school in Svitlodarsk, Donetsk region. The attack was carried out at around 09:30 on Thursday. The head of Donetsk regional state administration Pavlo Zhebrivsky reported this on Facebook.
“It came flying and exploded right in the schoolyard. One civilian was injured. He was driving past the school at the moment of an explosion. There were no casualties among teachers and pupils. The classes were suspended. Children were let go home,” Zhebrivsky wrote.
According to him, windows of the school were damaged and the building is now being examined by the experts.
The prosecutor’s office later reported that around 30 windows were damaged. A criminal case on “terrorist attack” was opened.
As it was reported earlier, over the past day and night of May 17, illegal armed groups opened fire in Donbas area 66 times. Two Ukrainian soldiers were killed, and four others were injured.
It is noted that due to the ‘active defense’ Ukrainian units eliminated five militants, and another eight were wounded.
The occupants shelled in Novozvanivka and Troitske (Luhansk region), Luhanske, Svitlodarsk, Novoluhansk, Majorske, Avdiivka, Opytne, Vodyane, Lebedinske and Shyrokyno areas (Donetsk region) from mortars and Grads, as the statement said.
