Illegal armed groups in Luhansk region transferred 54 prisoners to Ukraine. Ukrainian Ombudsman Lyudmyla Denisova reported this on her Facebook page.

“Convicted citizens of Ukraine who were serving a sentence in the penitentiary facilities on the moment of occupation of the part of Luhansk region were transferred today near the town of Shchastia. Such transfer took place seven times,” she reported.

According to the Ombudsman, 54 people were returned to Ukraine from the so-called Luhansk People’s Republic.

The youngest Ukrainian among the convicted people is 26 years old, and the oldest – is 61 years old.

These convicted Ukrainians were living on the territory of Luhansk, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhia and Kirovohrad regions and Kyiv.

Denisova notes that one of the transferred prisoners will be released on September 12 because of the termination of serving punishment.

Ten criminal cases were also passed to Ukraine and the accused can appeal to the court.

Since December 3, 2018, a total of 373 convicted citizens of Ukraine were transferred to controlled territory from the occupied Luhansk region, 13 – from Donetsk region and 105 of them walk free.

As it was reported earlier, the militants of the so-called Luhansk People’s Republic have passed 60 prisoners to controlled territories of Ukraine in Shchastia village on March 20, 2019. Four prisoners have been serving punishment without a court’s decision for more than nine years. A woman was among them as well.

42 prisoners, including 12 people who completely served their sentence, were taken to the Ukrainian territory in December 2018.
