Militants fired shots on the mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) during the implementation of humanitarian activities on the temporarily occupied territories in Donbas. This was reported by ATO HQ press center on Facebook.
"ICRC staff members were attacked by Russia-backed forces on May 18, 2017, during the planned distribution of food and hygienic parcels in Dolomytne settlement on the territory uncontrolled by Ukraine. Several machine gun fire bursts came in close proximity to people and vehicles of the mission. Fortunately, nobody was injured," the message reads.
The press center specified that clarification of circumstances and registers of ceasefire violations showed that shots targeting ICRC representatives occurred from the militants’ side and came from the occupied territory.
"Machine gun fire at the location of humanitarian assistance was opened in order to discredit Ukrainian Armed Forces, spreading panic and fear among civilian population and ICRC representatives," HQ noted.
