Militants of illegal armed groups in Luhansk region used small arms to attack police task force that arrived on the scene. This was announced by deputy head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration Yuriy Klymenko, the press service of the administration reported.

According to him, on January 17 the investigative team of Popasna Raion Police Department arrived in Zolote area at the crime scene on call of the local resident. Militants opened fire on law enforcement officers there using small arms.

"The cynicism of terrorists is beyond common sense. Obstruction of the investigation indicates that there is an attempt by terrorists to conceal their own crimes against the civilian population. After all, the preliminary version assumed that a man was killed with the bullet of the enemy sniper. In order to ensure the safety of the police, we had to turn to the representatives of the OSCE mission," Klymenko said.

It should be noted that today Russia-backed illegal armed groups in Donbas increased the number of attacks and shelled Ukrainian positions 61 time for the past 24 hours.
