Illegal armed groups in Donbas conflict zone shelled positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine four times on Friday, January 12. Ukrainian army opened fire in response twice. This was reported by Ukraine’s Army HQ press center in Facebook.
In Luhansk area the enemy used infantry weapons. Several times in the Troitske area they shelled from the machine-gun anti-tank grenade launchers, and in the afternoon they opened aimed fire at Katerynivka.
In Donetsk sector in Pryazovia, the occupants used mortars. 15 mines of 120-mm caliber detonated near Vodyane.
"Since the beginning of the day, four attacks on the strongholds Ukraine’s Armed Forces have been recorded along the line of demarcation. Twice, the Ukrainian soldiers responded adequately to the enemy shelling," the headquarters said.
As it was reported earlier over 11.3 million civilians crossed the demarcation line in Donbas in 2017. Maryinka, Maiorsk, and Stanytsia Luhanska are the most loaded checkpoints in between the territories controlled by the Ukrainian government and Donbas militants.
As to the administrative border with annexed Crimea, over 2.5 million people crossed it in 2017.
