Militants of the so-called "DPR" did not allow observers of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to the occupied territory of Donetsk region, threatening with a large-caliber machine gun. The press service of the OSCE reported this.
According to the information, the incident occurred in Verhnioshyrokivske village. Before militants’ checkpoint, six observers noticed a partially covered large-caliber machine gun (12.7 mm) without a crew, standing 10 meters in front of the first SMM patrol vehicle.
“A few minutes later, two men in military-style clothing approached the heavy machine-gun, reloaded its ammunition and pointed it directly at the first SMM patrol vehicle. They then repeated this action. After a few minutes, as the armed men moved the heavy machine-gun toward a stationary military-style vehicle (Ford Transit painted in camouflage pattern) they stopped and pointed the gun directly at the first SMM patrol vehicle from a distance of three metres. The SMM left the location at 10:16 and proceeded further east into non-government-controlled areas as planned. The SMM returned safely to base in Mariupol at 16:15,” the message says.
The SMM informed the Joint Centre for Control and Co-ordination and asked it to follow up on the incident.
As it was reported earlier observers of the OSCE mission once again recorded a funeral van with Russian license plates and the inscription "Ritual", which entered Russia from the territory of Donbas. This is stated in the mission's weekly report for October 18 – 24 published on website.
