Donbas militants have blocked the potential exchange of prisoners by making unrealistic demands that cannot be met. This was stated by representative of the Ukrainian delegation to the Tripartite Contact Group Serhiy Garmash on his Facebook page.

Garmash said that pro-Russian militants demanded that Ukraine cleared the criminal records of nine people who had been released in Ukraine as part of the previous exchange.

"We cannot legally clear them without their desire or presence, and their wishes and whereabouts are unknown not only to us but also to their lawyers. The other party knows this but uses it as an excuse to prevent the potential exchange," Serhiy Garmash wrote.

The militants also continue limiting access for representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross and relatives of prisoners.

As we reported earlier, according to Ukraine's Ombudsman Lyudmyla Denisova, 241 Ukrainian citizens are held captive in the temporarily occupied territories of Donbas.

“I held a working meeting with the British Ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons ... she informed that 241 Ukrainian citizens are held captive in the temporarily occupied territories of Donbas", she said.
