On Wednesday, August 16, the Donbas militants attacked Zaitseve, Donetsk Oblast, while the International Committee of the Red Cross was giving out humanitarian aid to the locals, Ukraine’s Armed Forces soldiers told Interfax Ukraine.
Representatives of the Ukrainian side of the JCCC agreed on the cease-fire in advance. However, in the afternoon the militants opened fire at civilian houses, which caused a fire. The Ukrainian soldiers that rushed to put it out were attacked by militants with grenade launchers, the servicemen said.
No casualties happened in the fire and the attack. “Understanding the threat to life and health of the ICRC representatives, Ukrainian soldiers didn’t fire in return,” the soldiers summed up.
