Militant targeted OSCE SMM observers from gun in Luhansk region

An armed militant targeted the OSCE patrol from the AK-47 at the western suburb of Smile village uncontrolled by Ukraine as it is stated in the report of the OSCE SMM.

It is reported that five members of the mission came to the logistics complex in the suburb of Smile where they saw two trucks (Kamaz) and 15 men, seven of them had weapons, AK-47. Two representatives of the mission left the cars to meet the representatives of the armed formation.

" When the two SMM patrol members were passing the other stationary truck, on their way to the gate, one of the men (in his forties) positioned himself next to that truck, about four metres from the SMM vehicles, and disengaged the safety of the rifle (AK-variant) he was holding close to his body at a waist level," the message said.

According to the report, a man observed the vehicles of the SMM representatives as long as they were near the logistics complex.

"At 11:03, when the SMM was leaving the area, it saw the man dropping on his knee and pointing the rifle towards the departing SMM vehicles. At that time the vehicles were approximately five metres from him," the SMM added.

The mission's patrol safely returned to the base in Luhansk.

As we reported the explosion took place from a distance less than 300 meters from the OSCE SMM observers not far from Petrovske, Luhansk region. 

Also, the OSCE SMM in Donbas reported an attack on their observers in Donetsk region. No casualties were reported. According to the OSCE, the fire was opened from the residential quarters in Horlivka, Donetsk region.
