Leader of Centre for POW Release detained while carrying weapons in car

Ukrainian law enforcers detained Volodymyr Ruban, the head of the Centre for POW Release. He is currently at a pre-trial detention facility in Mariupol, an informed source told Strana.ua outlet. 

According to Hromadske.org, Ruban is involved in transporting a large batch of firearms and ammunition. 

'He had a lot of stuff in his car, not just small arms and ammunition', the outlet's worker said.

Deputy Minister for Occupied Territories Georgiy Tuka confirmed that Ruban was detained. 'This so-called 'general', disguised as an IDP, attempted to move the entire arsenal across the Mayorsk checkpoint!', he posted at Twitter. 

In 2014-2017, Ruban served as head of the 'Officer Corps' organization; one the behalf of teh Ukrainian government, he negotiated with the Russian mercenaries on the release and exchange of prisoners of war. In February 2017, the SBU, Ukraine's Security Service cancelled Ruban's license for visiting the occupied areas of Donbas - for violation of procedure of crossing the divison line.
