Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky that the Russian Federation is looking forward to the end of the war in the Donbas. It happened during their acquaintance on September 25 at the UN General Assembly in New York, Zelensky reported at a briefing.
"Mr. Lavrov approached me and said: “I want to meet you. And I want to tell you that we are looking forward to the end of the war in the Donbas" and congratulated me on the exchange (exchange of prisoners within the 35 for 35 formula - ed.)", - the president said.
Zelensky replied that Ukraine was doing everything for peace, and suggested the return of Ukrainian lands and the exchange of prisoners.
"If you are ready, then let's end the war, give us our territories back and exchange people", - the Ukrainian leader told in a conversation with Lavrov.
Zelensky said that in the dialogue he emphasized on his desire to stop the murdering of Ukrainian soldiers and other citizens.
The President noted that the conversation was very short.
As we reported earlier, the President of Ukraine came to New York to participate in the 74th session of the UN General Assembly. In addition to that, the president has already held many international meetings, the main one being meeting with Trump on September 25.
