Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin discussed with the foreign ministers of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier and France Jean Marc Ayrault the question o9f a real withdrawal of the weapons from the demarcation line in the Donbas region. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said this during a briefing with the foreign ministers of Germany and France, which was broadcasted by 112 Ukraine TV Channel.
Trilateral contact group is planning the next meeting on September 20 to discuss the issue of withdrawal of the parties of the conflict from the demarcation line to resolve the situation in the east of Ukraine.
According to Klimkin, there may be a chance to resolve the situation in the Donbas region, and he hopes that "shaky ceasefire will grow into a stable ceasefire state".
"If both sides adhere to the ceasefire for more than a specified week, then we have a chance, which have not been. We will be able to achieve further troops’ withdrawal in some regions. We hope to reach this agreement next Tuesday at a meeting of the Trilateral contact group ", said Steinmeier.
In turn, the Foreign Minister of France, Jean-Marc Ayrault said he hoped that an agreement on the beginning of the troops’ withdrawal in the three pilot areas will be signed next week.
Steinmeier said that the ceasefire state in the east of Ukraine will come into force on Thursday night, September 15, and will last a week.
"Today at midnight will come into force a ceasefire and it will last for a week", said Steinmeier.
Ukrainian, German and French FMs will continue their work in the Donbas region on September 15.
"The meeting was interesting and informative. We will continue our work together, not in Kyiv, in the Donbas on September 15. The presence of Jean-Marc and Frank-Walter here, in Kyiv, is the evidence that Normandy four works. Together we need to make Russia fulfill Minsk agreements, we are consistently working on ways to improve the security situation in the Donbas region. I am grateful to both of you, but especially to Frank-Walter as he is here also as the OSCE Chairman", Klimkin said.
Recall that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said Foreing Ministers of four European countries scheduled their visits to Kyiv this week, namely, Foreign Minister of Germany, France, United Kindom and Denmark.
