Former deputy Kharkiv City Council, head of Kharkiv territorial council of the Ukrainian Choice movement Andriy Lesik was detained in Luhansk region. First, he himself wrote this on his Facebook page, later the information was confirmed by the press office of Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
"Since the suspect was hiding from the investigation and did not appear on investigator’s requests or those of the court, he was put on the wanted list. On December 15, the suspect was detained in the territory of one of the neighboring regions, "the prosecutor's office said.
Kharkiv district court will select a preventive measure for him.
Lesik is suspected of offense under Part 2 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine by authorities).
According to information from the preliminary investigation conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine, being a deputy, Lesik called for a change of the state borders.
In particular, in public speeches, he called for blocking traffic interchanges, so as not to allow the military and police to move around the city, to hold an illegal referendum, not to obey the legitimate state power.
As it was reported earlier the former mayor of Toretsk Volodymyr Sleptsov was released from custody the previous day by a court decision and left the Bakhmutsk detention center where he had previously been.
