The matter of ICRC access to prisons in the occupied territories and in the Russian Federation was discussed in Minsk. This was reported after the meeting of the Trilateral contact group in Minsk on the Facebook page by the vice-speaker of parliament and representative of Ukraine in the Trilateral Contact Group Iryna Gerashchenko.

"Despite the fact that over 20 months Ukraine insists on the involvement of the International Committee of the Red Cross for the release of hostages and finding the missing people, this authoritative international organization, which has 100 years of experience in the liberation of people and their search (also never publishes lists of prisoners and in this matter we are also working on international procedures), was not allowed in prisons in the occupied territories and in Russia. They were never given the opportunity to meet with the Ukrainian hostages, or to give them humanitarian aid,” Gerashchenko said.

According to her, the Ukrainian side is actively cooperating with the mission, at the same time there is a complete blockade of their work on the part of the occupied territories.

"From the early days of the Russian aggression in Donbas Ukraine is actively cooperating with the ICRC, provides complete information about the lists of hostages and missing persons, admission to the penitentiary system, but we see a total blockade on the other side,” Gerashchenko said.
