The authorities of occupied Donbas will pass to Ukraine over 300 prisoners for the further serving of their sentences in the prisons as Ukraine’s Human Rights Commissioner Lyudmyla Denisova reported.
“Besides, the issue was considered positively of the transfer for the further serving of the sentences to the territory controlled by Ukraine of 300 convicted persons who were incarcerated since the beginning of the armed aggression,” Denisova said.
However, the process of the transfer of the citizens will start after the end of the quarantine. At the same time, all checkpoints will start to work to enable the citizens of uncontrolled territories to come and get the social payments.
Besides, the representatives of occupied Donbas agreed to pass the Ukrainian side the cases of earlier convicted citizens who serve their sentences in the territory controlled by Ukraine. The issue is about 125 cases of 133 citizens who were convicted before the occupation of Donbas and were transferred to the territory controlled by Ukraine. However, their cases were left in uncontrolled territories.
Earlier, Donetsk People’s Republic official Darya Morozova stated that the prisoners’ exchange between Kyiv and the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) is possible only after the agreement of the road map on implementation of Minsk Agreements by the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG).
