Ukraine's military HQ rules out new disengagement in winter due to weather

Particularly, the protocol prohibits cleaning of minefield fencing when it's frosty

The disengagement of forces in Donbas could not take place in winter due to the weather conditions. Deputy Commander of the Joint Forces Bohdan Bondar stated that to journalists as Donbas News reports. 

"We are entering into such a period when the weather conditions not always will allow us preparing new positions. Besides, during the frost, it is prohibited to clean minefield fencings. So we can not hold mine clearance due to the Protocol," Bondar said. 

As we reported earlier, the practical stage of the disengagement of forces process started in the area of ​​Bohdanivka and Petrivske, Donetsk region. The separation of troops and weapons will be conducted within three days.

Then, search and destruction of mine-explosive barriers, dismantling of fortifications and other military facilities within a certain area would be carried out. On the 29th day, the Ukrainian side would inform that all activities had been carried out, and the very next day, the OSCE SMM representatives would verify the actions fulfilled.
