Situation in Donetsk region near Avdiivka over past day shows a tendency to further escalation: militants have increased their attacks in the areas which are usually calm. This was reported during the briefing broadcast by "112 Ukraine" TV channel by Oleksandr Motuzyanyk, the Speaker of Defence Ministry on ATO issues.

"Situation near Avdiivka demonstrates a tendency towards escalation… According to approximate calculations of the General Staff, enemy has launched more than 30 bombs and about 70 tank shells near Avdiivka area," he noted.

At the same time, Motuzyanyk added, that along with intensifying hostilities near Avdiivka, the enemy has also increased attacks in other frontline spots, particularly those where military action was not recorded earlier. "There were no quiet areas in Donetsk direction overall yesterday… 41 shelling was reported over the past 24 hours, two times enemy has used heavy weaponry," he said.

According to Defence Ministry Speaker, Ukrainian Forces were opening intense return fire.
