Halo Trust to clear mines in Donetsk region

Mine clearing works will be performed in four villages starting from August 14, - Ukraine’s defense ministry

The Halo Trust, British and U.S. NGO conducting humanitarian de-mining in war-affected areas is going to clear mines in Donbas. The press service of Ukraine’s defense ministry reported that on Thursday evening.  

‘In order to assess the presence, nature and extent of contamination of the territory with mines and explosive remnants of war, the non-governmental organization The HALO Trust has since August 14 started carrying out humanitarian demining activities in the areas of the towns of Lomakyne, Talakivka, Hnutove, Mariupol district, and the town of Myrny, Volnovakha district, Donetsk region,’ the report says.

The mine clearing measures will be taking place within the government-approved action plan on humanitarian mine clearing procedure in Donbas in 2017.
