German government condemns the attack on Ukrainian positions, which was carried out by militants in Donbas on February 18, and calls for an investigation into the armed incident. This was stated by the Deputy Spokesperson of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany Ulrike Demmer, Deutsche Welle reported.
"The German government condemns the escalation of violence in eastern Ukraine and calls on the parties of the conflict to abide by the ceasefire and the implementation of Minsk agreements," she said.
Demmer also emphasized the need to investigate this armed incident. According to Deputy Government Spokesperson, it should be conducted by an independent authority, and the OSCE mission should gain unimpeded access to it.
As we reported earlier, on February 18, militants attacked the positions of Joint Forces next to the four settlements: Novotoshkivske, Orikhove, Krymske, and Khutir Vilnyi.
The HQ of Joint Forces Operation (JFO) stated that the fire had been carried out with weapons prohibited by the Minsk Agreements, including 120-mm mortars.
As a result of the attack, one Ukrainian soldier was killed, three were injured, another two were concussed.
