Ambassador of the French Republic in Ukraine Isabelle Dumont stated that her country intends to continue to help Ukraine in the release of hostages. She said this during a brief speech at the Boryspil airport, where two planes with the hostages released from captivity arrived.
"I want to wish you all the best on behalf of France and on behalf of President Macron, to return to your homes and I want to assure that we will continue to work so that all the hostages return home. I also want to assure that we support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, "the ambassador said.
Also, Mrs. Dumont assured that the day of the return of prisoners was as "special" for her, as for many Ukrainians.
As it was reported earlier for more than a year Ukraine has been expecting for this exchange. Negotiations have been often disrupted, militants agreed to conduct the exchange and then refused.
And on the eve of the New Year, the agreement on the exchange of hostages between Ukraine and representatives of the "LPR" and "DPR" has finally succeeded.
The exchange of prisoners took place on December 27. The exchange started on Wednesday noon at Mayorske checkpoint.
