Toretsk city in Donetsk region may face industrial catastrophe due to flooding of two non-working mines. This was reported by Ukrainian side in Joint Coordination and Control Center.

"Methane gas rises to the surface due to the flooding of Artem and Yuzhnaya mines. It enters the cellars of residential and industrial buildings, which can lead to explosions and poisoning of people," the message reads.

Center noted that water reaches underground mines due to the damaged part of Horlivka-Toretsk waterway, which was affected as a result of militants’ shelling.

It is noted that inspection and restoration of waterway may be carried out during two-three days. However, militants do not provide security guarantees for repair works period.

Industrial catastrophe may also threat Novhorodske near Toretsk.
