Avdiivka shelling: Day 6

As of February 3 there is still no agreement on the ceasefire. 213 people evacuated from Avdiivka in the six days of bombardment, 25 thousand of local civilians. The deathtoll is rising: 3 civilians died, 9 injured. Among the servicemen – 10 died, 66 injured. 95 private houses, 7 multi-storeyed residential houses came under fire since January 21.

At the same time, the administration of president Poroshenko does not consider implementation of martial law there

People held another farewell ceremony on Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square) in Kyiv for Ukrainian soldier of 72nd brigade Leonid Derhach who died defending Avdiivka.

NATO referendum

NATO referendum issue is still in focus. Kostiantyn Yelisieiev, the Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration commented on some aspects of Poroshenko’s initiative.


Emergency session of UN Security Council

Last night the members of the UN Security Council gathered on a session initiated by Ukraine, to discuss the current humanitarian and security conditions in the embattled town of Avdiivka. Volodymyr Yelchenko, the President of the UN Security Council, displayed the photos of residential houses shelled with Grad launchers.
