An explosion occurred on the mine #10 Stepnaya at OJSC LvivVugillya. The explosion led to the rock fall. The press-service of the State Emergency Service.
"Due to the explosion a rockfall occurred on the mine #10 Stepnaya at OJSC LvivVugillya at the depth of 550 m in the village of Glukhiv, Lviv region, at 12:45 on March 2,” reads the message.
There were 172 miners down in the mine, 34 of them on the emergency area.
“Eight of them died, another six are injured and evacuated,” reads the message.
At that it is noted that 24 more miners are still missing.
“The reason for the rockfall is being established. The subdivisions of the Ministry of Coal Industry and the State Emergency Service are performing the search and rescue operation,” states the message.
