Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained former militant of the so-called Zorya Battalion of “Luhansk People’s Republic” when he was crossing the contact line in Donetsk region. SBU press center reported this.
During the check, SBU agents found that the Kharkiv native was involved in hostilities against the Ukrainian military.
Security Service found out that a man joined the ranks of Zorya illegal armed formation in August 2014. He underwent special combat training and took part in battles in Luhansk sector. The man also shelled Luhansk airport and civilian objects as part of the artillery squad of terrorists.
The militant was informed of suspicion for committing a crime - participation in terrorist organizations. It provides for imprisonment for a term of 8 to 15 years with confiscation of property. He was given a pre-trial detention order.
