The European Union noted that the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) still has no access to prisoners in the uncontrolled territories of Donbas as Ukrinform reported citing EU statement concerning Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and illegal occupation of Crimea.
“We repeat our urge for further progress in the issue of new disengagement areas, checkpoints, mine clearance and a prisoner swap. Concerning the last issue, we regret that the ICRC still has no access to people kept in the territories uncontrolled by the government,” the European diplomats said.
The EU insists that the Red Cross should be allowed to visit the prisoners in occupied Donbas.
The EU representatives at the OSCE reminded that the access of the Red Cross mission to all prisoners is one of the commitments of the Paris summit in the Normandy Format that took place in December 2019.
Earlier, Head of the President's Office Andriy Yermak stated that the International Committee of the Red Cross will have access to the occupied territories of Donbas until the end of September.
